Job title: Development Worker (Family Food Service)
Hours: 35 hours per week (weekend work will be required)
Closing date: Friday 1st June 2018 at 12pm
This is an exciting new Move On service which will work alongside our highly successful FareShare Glasgow and the West of Scotland social enterprise, to create and support a Glasgow network of like-minded services who are addressing food poverty amongst children and young people outwith school hours. The service will enable interested partners to share best practice, to raise the profile of the risks of families going hungry when schools are closed and to encourage the involvement of public and private partners, establishing innovative solutions to these problems.
The Family Food Service will also engage locally with families and consult with them and our partners to develop community based programmes in direct response to food poverty out with school time.
We require an enthusiastic and motivated person to assist in the development of our Family Food Service. You will prepare and deliver community based group work and training, recruit, train and support volunteers. You will liaise with, support and develop Move On’s existing community partners and the existing service provision within Glasgow. You will also, where required, support and respond to community needs within Glasgow, through the provision and delivery of FareShare surplus food.
From our bases in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Move On works with vulnerable young people and those affected by homelessness.
We offer a range of services providing advice, training, guidance and support enabling vulnerable young people and those affected by homelessness to unlock their potential and achieve a range of positive outcomes. These positive outcomes include; securing or progressing towards a job, accessing and sustaining a home, building confidence, growing support networks and increasing life skills.
